How to improve the performance of productions?

Improving the performance of productions is the key to increase the productivity & first pass rate, reduce the waste and save the manufacturing cost. Commonly admitted that controlling of 5M1E will be the efficient way to fit this purpose.

Man: it refers to all the people on site, including supervisors, drivers, production employees, porters and all other people who exist. How to improve production efficiency, we should first discover from the existing staff, give full play to their characteristics, stimulate the enthusiasm of employees, and improve their enthusiasm. The human resources course is a science that specializes in how to improve the work efficiency of employees per unit time and how to stimulate their enthusiasm. Simply put, personnel management is the most complicated and difficult to understand and use form of production management.

Machine: it refers to the auxiliary production appliances such as equipment and tools used in production. In production, whether the equipment is operating normally, the quality of the tools is another factor that affects the production schedule and product quality. When an enterprise is developing, in addition to improving the quality of its people, the external image of the enterprise is improving, the equipment inside the company is also being updated. why? Good equipment can improve production efficiency and product quality. Such as: changing the hand saw in the past to the current machine saw, the efficiency has been increased dozens of times. The speed used to be slow and the strength of the human body was still undergoing a big test; now, people are relaxed and efficiency has improved. Therefore, in industrial production, equipment is another powerful way to improve production efficiency.

Material: it refers to raw materials, semi-finished products, accessories, and other product materials. In the current production of industrial products, the division of labor is refined, and there are generally several dozens of accessories or components that operate simultaneously in several departments. When a part is not completed, the entire product cannot be assembled, causing the assembly process to be suspended for materials. No matter which department you are in, the results of your work will affect the production operations of other departments. Of course, you can’t just focus on the production of your own department and ignore the subsequent processes or the operation of other related processes, because the operation of the enterprise is the result of the overall balance of operation. Therefore, in the work of production management, you must pay close attention to the semi-finished products sent from the previous process, the accessories in the warehouse, and the progress of the production of semi-finished products or finished products in your own process. A good manager is a person who can see the overall situation, a person who can consider everyone.

Method: As the name suggests, method technology, refers to the rules and regulations that need to be followed in the production process. It includes: process instructions, standard process guidelines, production drawings, production schedules, product operation standards, inspection standards, various operating procedures, etc. Their role here is to timely and accurately reflect the requirements of product production and product quality. Strictly operating in accordance with regulations is a condition to ensure product quality and production schedule.

Measurement: It mainly refers to measuring tools, measuring methods, and trained & authorized measuring personnel. Use designated & regularly calibrated measurement tools, and unified & standardized measurement methods to ensure that the data errors measured by the same measurement point, the same measurement tool and different surveyors are minimized. This is the MSA that we often mention. Record the measured data during the production process.

Environments: it refers to the manufacturing and working environment. Certain products (computers, high-tech products) have high requirements on the environment, and the environment will also affect the quality of the products. For example: when the sound is debugged, the surrounding environment should be quiet. The food industry also has special regulations on the environment, otherwise, the hygiene of the products will not meet the national standards. Now the ISO14000 environmental management system has been introduced to industrial manufacturing enterprises. The 5S movement is also a concrete manifestation of enterprises' requirements for environmental improvement. The environment of the production site may pose a threat to the safety of employees. If employees work in a dangerous environment, how can they work with peace of mind? Therefore, the environment is an important part of the production site management.

Following check items have already been included in KFQ’s Production Monitoring report:

-Have all workers and quality controllers been trained for proper operation and inspection?

-Are manufacturing and testing machines/equipment adequate and periodically maintained to ensure they are in good condition?

- Are all materials, semi-finished products and finished goods properly identified, inspected, and separated at all production stages? Are they adequately protected during transportation to avoid creating of any defects?

-Are current manufacturing methods appropriate to produce good quality products and significantly reduce defective units?

-Are key process parameters verified before and after the production, and monitored periodically during the production?

-Are current inspection and testing procedures adequate to detect non-conforming parts/products?

-Is working environment comfortable for workers and suitable for manufacturing machines?

-Are production floors properly designed such that a product is manufactured progressively from a workstation to another with minimal waiting and handling operations between stations?

-Are PPE and safeguards equipped and properly used?

- Is fire prevention system adequate and effective? (fire extinguishers, emergency lights, evacuation routes, fire alarms, fire drills, etc.)

In addition to the above-mentioned checkpoints, KFQ’s production monitoring service will also check the production status, analyze the bottle neck of manufacturing processes, propose the critical corrective actions, and follow-up the effectiveness of implementation for the corrective action plans previously addressed.

Book the inspections with KFQ, you will receive high level services in comparison with other service providers, and reduce your import risks, definitely!
